1.
Watching a cigarette burn so close to your mouth, ash falling out. I don't know quite what to say, so I take my tongue and put out the flame. "Why do you try to impress me? I'm nobody." Out here it's different. The porch becomes a prison. Then you got drunk, and started shouting at everybody. "You can all go home now, cause you're not welcome here."
2.
Honey Colony 02:57
Heat stroke hit me like a bee. Trying hard to cross the street. Buzzing your apartment, wishing I had brought something to eat, for you or me. I believe there's more to see, than the honey colony. I've been trapped inside my hive, barely alive. Working for a queen who I'll never get to see.
3.
Folk Guitar 02:16
I'm sick of folk guitar, so I just play louder. In my rocking chair. I'm tired of hanging around the dog park all alone. No soul but my own. A ghost inside my bones. So it might be better, if we do this together. Sleeping in the graveyard, kicking over tombstones, and running after wolves.
4.
All of the rotten apples have fallen from their trees. You picked one up and ate it, cause it was too bright to see. Back in the ravaged orchard, you can't believe what you've done. Taking the fruit for granted, while other people starve. I saw a golden light when you took that bite, and it never disappeared. Then you spit it out, light poured from your mouth. And you yelled so loud, the trees lost all their leaves. Dead on the ground.
5.
Shells from a smoking snail, drowning with salt in the driveway. My closest friend has no conscience. I can still see it's burning body, seared into my memory. Bombs in the backyard, we learned fast how to take charge. Like a bull served on fine china. Like the gun your father bought us. Like a neighborhood that watches, every step you take.
6.
No Cops 03:08
I left the safety of my bed, went outside and got arrested. Shot me down in the street, and I lay bleeding out for weeks. Cops roam the street like dogs. Some sniff for drugs, some dig for bones. They are howling at the moon. And if I would join all their joyful noise, I could be a dumb dog too. Dressed in blue, and outside my cell.
7.
Weed Spiders 03:17
Where do you live, and where's your destination? Stuck in the back of every passing truck. Tongue is dry, and no one is listening. Got no bread to fill my stomach up. But what do you know about struggle? Weed out the spiders. Lead them from their homes. You're not getting any younger, you're halfway gone.
8.
Cartoons 03:39
Picked a bad time to ask you, how you were that day. Sighed, then turned on the TV. And let the static wash your face. "All I'm asking for is you to leave. Is that so hard to see?" There are cartoons that will haunt you, every step you take. Traced the moonlight with a branch, and slowly changed into a plant. Hanging on a wall, hopeful that you'll grow. As you stare through the night at an empty sky, you'll be glad when morning comes.
9.
The skirt of my third grade teacher, wrinkled jeans and stained with juice. She said I was all erasers, as she glided across the room. I saw the ghost of her face in a book yesterday. When she wrote my name on the chalkboard, it looked backwards in the light. I raised my hand to correct her, but she paid me little mind. In a dim colored room, with a desk and a stool, I was sat down and taught the rules. How to turn down your voice, how to speak without choice, and to cheat so you never lose. These are the things I learned in school.
10.
Mistress 04:59
He was unfaithful before Christmas, lying in bed with his sexless mistress. He said: "I don't believe in love, so why should I make it? It's built to destroy those who create it." The dirt in your sheets from the grass that you eat, is burying me. Painting an ugly portrait, a monster disguised as a lonely human. Expressionless and full of patience. An absolute abomination. When your cat bit my hand and I started to bleed, I went to find my keys. They were locked in my car, so I started to walk, away from everything.
11.
Bitter-tasting fruit left on the plate. Tastes like it's been out for days. Home alone, with nothing left to eat, buried in junk I always thought I'd need. But now it owns me. We don't live together anymore.
